In September of 1981 Grandpa Dee passed away at the age of 54. Chris and I made planed to take a trip for a few days after the funeral to try and start the process of what would come next. Grandma Norma Jean was to become our charge, and we had a lot to figure out.

We always like taking day trips to Stockbridge Mass when we lived in Catskill, and had always talked about staying at the Red Lion Inn. This was a perfect distance, so that's what we did.

The foliage was in full swing, and we had some of that "kinda gray but glowing from the inside" scenery - it was perfect for our mood. The home and studio of Norman Rockwell (a museum now) is around the corner from the Inn, and one of our favorite quaint places to eat - The Stockpot - was in walking distance.

When we got home we moved from the Meyer Oval Apartment to the Wildwood Drive house. Matt was born in June - you do the math...
